Are you?
Already qualified, or about to qualify, and interested in a career in rural development in developing countries?
Looking for work experience in a developing country?
Finding it difficult to find a job or activity overseas?
If so this may be of interest to you. The fund makes cash awards (grants), up to £2,000, to British citizens and long-term UK residents under the age of 30, qualified in agriculture, forestry, agroforestry, environmental science and related disciplines, to help with airfares and/or living costs arising from their proposed projects (paid or unpaid). These funds are normally used to supplement funds from other agencies or raised by applicants to finance training projects or project components overseas that are designed to give tropical experience to qualified young people.
Awardees should have a strong interest in development issues. They normally have to identify their own projects (but the Fund can sometimes find projects). Projects should be for a minimum of six months.
